At Pitt we use 15,000 plastic bags EVERY WEEK! In order to reduce our use, we are asking you to use less than 15 plastic bags this semester.
Starting February 3rd, after your first 15 plastic bags used, a fee of 25 cents will be attached to each additional bag. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Pitt Green Fund to help support student-led sustainability initiatives on campus. Don't have a reusable bag or forgot yours? No problem. Affordable bags will be available for purchase in the Quick Zones. A Give and Take bin will also be placed near registers for students to reuse their plastic bags.
If you use less than 15 bags at the end of this semester, your name will be entered into a raffle for a brand new iPad.
